Listing and ranking rules
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Medica Algérie is committed to transparent ranking: relevance to your search always comes first, and payment can increase prominence but never cancels relevance. Here is how results are chosen and ordered.
1. Who appears
- Companies with the supplier profile, not archived, with a public page. A page created by Medica is marked as such until the company takes it over.
- Published products, reviewed by the team, and their active offers from those suppliers.
- A misleading, forbidden or rightly reported product or offer may be hidden.
2. Ranking of products in search
Each product gets a score; products are shown from highest to lowest. Relevance (match with the words searched, synonyms and the reference) always dominates. Quality points are added, set by Medica and published below as applied today.
3. Formula in force
| Relevance (always dominates) | 100 × word match + 30 × name similarity |
|---|---|
| Exact product reference | + 60 |
| The search is the product's brand | + 20 |
| Product page quality | + 0.2 × quality score (0 to 100) |
| Offered by a verified supplier | + 10 |
| Active offers | + 2 per offer, at most 10 |
| Response rate over 90 days | up to + 10 (from 5 requests) |
| Median response delay | + 5 under 4 h, + 3 under 24 h |
| New supplier | + 5 for 60 days |
| Supplier who does not answer | − 10 under 30% of answers (from 10 requests) |
| Sponsored placement | at most + 15, among relevant results |
4. Responsiveness
A supplier's responsiveness is measured on the requests received over the last 90 days: share of requests handled (an answer or a reasoned decline) and median delay of the first answer. It only counts from a minimum number of requests, so as not to penalise a newcomer. A supplier's page may show "Usually replies within 4 h" and "N% of requests answered".
5. Supplier directory and a product's offers
- Directory: verification, number of offers (capped) and responsiveness, then alphabetical order.
- Offers for one product: the supplier's verification and responsiveness, then availability (in stock, on order), then alphabetical order.
- Filters (wilaya served, new or refurbished, verified suppliers) narrow the list without changing the order.
6. Sponsored placement
Paid placement is always labelled "Sponsored". It only applies to results already relevant to the search and its effect is capped (see the formula). The "Verified" badge cannot be bought.
7. Sending quote requests
A general request is sent in waves to suppliers who sell the requested product or category and serve the wilaya, taking verification, responsiveness and plan into account, within a maximum number of suppliers per request. A request addressed to one supplier is first reserved to it.
8. Changes
The weights may change; this page always shows those in force. For any question or dispute: [email protected].
